A Floating Road Provides a Path Forward for Power Line Replacement

By News

BLUROC stepped in to provide a solution for Pennsylvania Power and Light’s aging power line towers on islands in the Susquehanna River, south of Harrisburg. Facing the challenge of crossing the fast-moving river with heavy equipment, including a 170,000-pound crane, BLUROC installed a 550-foot floating road, facilitating safe access to the islands.

Despite encountering unexpected challenges such as a redirected water flow and scheduling issues with the dive team, BLUROC’s adaptable approach ensured the project’s successful completion on time and within budget, while maintaining compliance with regulatory permits. As a result, BLUROC has become a trusted resource for future projects requiring floating road solutions.
